Diving the Oconto

This weekend Steve and I did two dives in the Thousand Islands. We dove the Jodrey and the Oconto. The Jodrey is a steel freighter and the Oconto is a wooden ship from the turn of the century. The photo is of the anchor of the Oconto.

The Oconto is quite a large wreck and is in between and 140 and 180 depth. The current at this site is very fast. It was so fast that we decided the next dive on this wreck will involve scooters to make maneuvering in the current a little easier.

The wreck seems to be broken into two parts. At one and a large anchor as shown in the photo is hanging off the wreck. We had a 72 minute run time on the dive with 180ft maximum depth.

Our dive on the Jodrey involved exploring the area between the wall and the wreck. On the Jodrey we reach 210 feet and had a 82 minute run time.
