Diving Backmine
We made it back to the mine again. This time the plans was to go to the back of the mine.
We arrived with scooters, trimix and deco gases and a stage of 32% for the trip across the mine and down to the cavern/cave area where the line starts.
We got down to the sign pretty quickly, but just before we hit the sign I rapped my light into the scooter by accident and it shut itself off. After flicking it off and on again it was fine. It also worked fine for the rest of the dive. There must be something just a little loose in the light head perhaps the bulb.
We clipped off the scooters and bottles at the cave sign (kept 50% with us just in case) and head down the line to the end of the line which was perhaps 200 ft further down the line. The first part of the line goes through about 20-30 ft of near visibility layer. Because of the darkness the vis seems to open up slowly to much better visibility below this layer.
On the way back I was leading and we headed down the tee which goes off to the side about 15-20 ft only. We returned to the mainline and I really noticed the vis reduce on the way back when we hit the poor vis area it was kind of cool to see.
After about 20 minutes of deco and a 60 minute run time we were back on the surface scootering back to the mine entrance.
